Pulse displays wood in the process of bending. The wood oscillation is controlled by a microcontroller and programming environment called "Wiring". The Wiring board is connected to stepper motors and switches. Cables attached to the stepper motors force the wood to bend.

In addition to the visual oscillation of the wood, there is an audible oscillation created by the stress in the plywood layers.
